The Hornets have been a mainstay of Melbourne and Australia’s blues and roots scene for almost three decades.
We feature some of the country’s best known and respected blues and roots musicians including:
singer/songwriter, guitarist and author Craig Horne, ARIA Hall of Fame guitarist Jeff Burstin (Jo Jo Zep, Black Sorrows) and ARIA Award winning keyboardist Bruce Haymes (Archie Roach, Paul Kelly) as well as the Bamboos' Yuri Pavlinov on bass and the Bad Loves drummer Chris Tabone.
The Hornets have recently released their 8th CD Wasteland incorporating everything from original blues, to country, folk and even a few Bob Dylan covers. They have received rave reviews from the media and tracks have been played extensively on community radio RRR PBS and 3CR. Several of their albums were named in the top ten releases for their respective years in both The Age and Herald Sun. Over the years the band has played most of the major music festivals in the country and gained a regular following of devoted fans as a result of thousands of live performances. Consequently, The Age named The Hornets “The best blues band in Melbourne”, and the Herald Sun said the band “demanded attention”. This is a band best seen live!
